The changing generation mix in the National Electricity Market (NEM) coupled with the sheer volume of new connections has resulted in many new generation developments being delayed due to challenges associated with the grid connection process.
Grid connection of projects in the NEM requires careful planning and consideration of design, Generator Technical Performance Standards (GTPS), coordination of multiple stakeholders, testing, commissioning and ongoing compliance. Identification of risks and effective management of these risks is critical to ensuring timely delivery of projects.
Connections & Power Systems Advisory (“CPSA”) was established to provide grid connection related professional engineering services. A successful grid connection requires expectations between the various stakeholders be set and continually managed. This can be challenging given the multiple stakeholders and the continually evolving regulatory frameworks.
